Season comes to an end for four area football teams

(Continued)

COYLE, Okla. —

Time runs out for Perry

The Maroons were a touchdown away from taking a lead with 7:38 left in the game. Unfortunately, that score didn’t come as Perry’s season ended with a 34-28 loss.

Millwood held a 20-point lead with 3:55 left in the third, thanks to three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. Austin Allen scored his second rushing touchdown to cut Millwood’s lead to 34-20 with 45 seconds left in the third. Darreal Williams scored on a 70-yard run with 7:38 left in the fourth.

Perry graduates nine including starting running back Allen. The Maroons return several key players including quarterback Kale Hixon and Williams.

Young players get experience in second half of Demons’ season

Perkins-Tryon was missing several key players Friday at Jones and it proved to be too much to overcome as the Demons lost 48-12.

The Longhorns outscored P-T 28-0 in the first quarter. Both of the Demons’ top two quarterbacks (Caleb White and Zac Bledsoe) were injured leaving freshman Dillion Longbrake behind center. Clark Crotty got the Demons on the board with an 11-yard run in the second quarter. At the end of the game, John Sasser caught a 17-yard pass from Longbrake.

Jones out-rushed Perkins-Tryon 285-112. The Demons only averaged 2.4 yards per carry. P-T ended the season with a four-game losing streak and graduate nine including running backs Devin Peyton and Tanner Bridenstine. With the injuries the Demons had in the last four games a lot of young players gained playing time.
