Coyle boys hold of Agra

AGRA, Okla. —  The Coyle Bluejackets jumped out to the lead and held off a late rally by the Agra Bearcats in a 57-47 victory.

Coyle (14-3) led 15-8 after the first and expanded it to 31-13 at halftime. Agra outscored the Bluejackets 19-9 in the third quarter to cut its deficit to eight.

Eric Harris, who was a recent move-in led Coyle in scoring with 24 points. Tony Aska followed with 16. Sumrall said Harris really stepped up.

Matt Reedy led the Bearcats in scoring with 11 points. Tyler Rossiter contributed 10 and Blake Beard scored nine.

Agra (12-4) visits Oilton on Tuesday. Coyle hosts Mulhall-0rlando who beat the Bluejackets by one.


Cushing 63, Blackwell 22

CUSHING — The Lady Tigers pulled away in the second quarter for a 63-22 victory over the Lady Maroons.

Cushing (14-1) led 14-9 after the first and outscored Blackwell 22-2 to take a 36-11 halftime lead. The Lady Tigers won the second half 27-11. Che’Ron Lewis scored a game-high 20 points. Taylor Jones followed with 15.

The Lady Tigers visit Glenpool at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Ripley 69, Oilton 22

RIPLEY — The Lady Warriors had no problems scoring in a 69-22 victory over the Lady Panthers.

“We played really well,” coach Doug Scott said. “We gout out on them. It was a good day.”

The Lady Warriors (16-1) led 20-11 at the end of the first and 40-16 at halftime. Kylie Ladd led Ripley with 22 points. Naomi Eslinger scored 12 and Whisper Lefthand scored 11.

The Lady Warriors visit Carney on Tuesday.

Pawnee 45, Newkirk 32

PAWNEE — The Lady Black Bears played strong defense to defeat the Newkirk Lady Tigers 45-32.

The Lady Black Bears (9-3) visit Frontier at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Coyle 55, Agra 28

AGRA — The Lady Bluejackets dominated the paint and pulled away after the first quarter in a 55-28 victory over the Lady Bearcats.

Young scored a game-high 24 points. Coyle led 13-8 at the end of the first and 26-14 at halftime. In the second half, Agra was unable to rally as it was outscored 29-14. Taylor Roe led the Lady Bearcats in scoring with 7.


Cushing 45 Blackwell 39

CUSHING — The Tigers grabbed the lead early and made free throws late to pull out a 45-39 victory over the Maroons.

“We built a 17-point lead and Blackwell made a run to cut it down to three,” coach Bob Tanner said. “We made some free throws down the stretch.”

The Tigers (9-5) led 24-10 in the first half and held a 31-20 lead at the end of the third quarter. Drew Wilson led Cushing in scoring with 20 points. Nick Tanner followed with 14.

Cushing visits Glenpool at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Pawnee 64, Newkirk 39

PAWNEE — Kyle Smith scored 17 points as the Pawnee High School boys basketball team overcame a slow start to beat Newkirk 64-39 Friday.

After leading 29-19 at halftime, the Black Bears outscored Newkirk 23-7 in the third quarter to put the game all but out of reach.

Along with Smith, Nathan Brock and Ryland Moore each scored 10 points while Vagus Penny added 7.

Pawnee will play Frontier on Monday.

Ripley 79, Oilton 31

RIPLEY — The Warriors jumped out to a double digit lead and didn’t look back in a 79-31 victory over the Panthers.

“The guys jumped out and played well,” Scott said. “A lot of people were involved and that’s fun.”

Ripley led 19-4 after the first and 44-12 at halftime. Dexter Ladd led the team in scoring with 19.  Noah Teel contributed 14 and Caulden Greenfield scored 11.
