OKLAHOMA CITY —
An Oklahoma County judge has delayed the trial of a pharmacist charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a teenager.
District Judge Tammy Bass-LeSure on Friday agreed to reschedule Jerome Ersland’s trial from Aug. 30 to Sept. 13.
It was the second delay in the trial.
Prosecutors have accused Ersland of continuing to shoot would-be robber Antwun Parker on May 19, 2009, after the unarmed 16-year-old was unconscious with a gunshot wound to the head. Parker was with another teen who had a gun and ran after Ersland started shooting.
Ersland contends he was defending himself and two female employees at the Reliable Discount Pharmacy in south Oklahoma City.
The trial date originally was set for Monday.
