Story Time, 10 a.m., Cushing Public Library.  Stories, music, crafts for ages three to five years.

Remarks by Robert Gates, 2006-2011 United States Secretary of Defense, 3:30-4:45 p.m.., Gallagher-Iba Arena. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Free for OSU students, faculty and staff. Purchase $10 tickets at iso.okstate.edu before October 17 or at the door.

Chicken Noodle and Bean Dinner, 5:00 p.m., Cottonwood Community Center (corner of Lakewood and Cottonwood Roads, two-miles west of Tumbleweeds).  Cherokee HCE Group to benefit historical one-room schoolhouse.  $7 Adult. $3.50 children 4-12. Tickets available at door or call 372-6966.

Pumpkin Run, 5:30 p.m., Cross Country course across from Hall of Fame, OSU Department of Wellness. Wear Halloween costume for two-mile run. Free.
