Thomas Lanners, professor of piano at Oklahoma State University, will present a solo piano recital in the Seretean Center Concert Hall at 2:30 p.m. today.

The recital is free and open to the public.

Lanners will perform a program of works written between 1948 and 2003 by Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer Ned Rorem, in preparation for recording the works in December for his next CD release.

Lanners’ latest disc, “Ned Rorem: The Three Piano Sonatas,” was released on the Centaur label in May.

The first pianist to have recorded all three sonatas, Lanners was awarded a grant from the Aaron Copland Fund for Music Recording in New York to bring the CD to fruition.

He will have recorded nearly all of Rorem’s considerable piano solo output when his current project is completed in 2008.
