Chasity Carey, a 42-year-old Drumright woman, was found not guilty of first-degree murder after a jury finished deliberations Friday at the Payne County Courthouse. No other charges were pending for Carey.
The jury watched video Thursday of the shooting and killing of 38-year-old Brandon Williams and spent Friday deliberating following closing arguments. Both the prosecution and defense ended their presentations to a jury Thursday.
Carey was arrested hours after she called 911 on Aug. 9, 2017, saying she had shot Williams at her Signature Bail Bonds office at Town Center in the 100 block of West Seventh Avenue. Williams was one of her clients, and the two were meeting nine days after she had posted $35,000 bond in a case that Williams faced four charges in.
