Stillwater users of the OrderUp food delivery app will find themselves redirected to Grubhub beginning Tuesday. Company representatives say OrderUp users will be able to use the same username and password for an easy transition.
The company is also running a promotion for Oklahoma State University students with mobile payment platform Venmo that offers $10 off an order of $15 by registering their .edu email addresses at https://lp.grubhub.com/campus/venmo.
Grubhub, one of the largest food ordering and payment platforms, has been acquiring other companies to supplement its growth, according to Yahoo! Finance.
It bought Seamless in 2013 and Allmenus in 2011.
This year, Grubhub acquired Yelp’s Eat24 and the Boston-based Foodler delivery platforms and in 2017, acquired 27 company-owned food delivery markets from OrderUp.
It recently made another OrderUp acquisition, which is allowing Grubhub access to markets in Oklahoma, California, Colorado, Indiana, Missouri, Oregon and Virginia formerly held by the rival service.
Grubhub also acquired technology this year that allows it to better integrate its systems with the point-of-sale systems used by restaurants when it bought LevelUp, a platform for managing digital ordering, payments and loyalty rewards programs.
The company is integrating with the Yelp and TripAdvisor websites and apps so users can browse restaurants and order food using Grubhub.
CNBC reports that restaurants pay the service commissions as high as 30 percent on orders.
Grubhub has seen up to 70 percent year-to-year growth and has a relationship with 75,000 restaurants and an estimated 15.6 million active diners. Its gross food sales are around $1.2 billion per quarter, Yahoo! Finance reported.
