A car fire drew firefighters and onlookers to the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house Tuesday at approximately 1:20 p.m.

A car fire drew firefighters and onlookers to the 1300 block of west Third Avenue Tuesday at approximately 1:20 p.m.

A fraternity member of the Sigma Alpha Epilson fraternity saw smoke coming from a black SUV in the house parking lot.

Senior Austin Stacy said when he drove up to the parking lot to help with homecoming, no one was around.

"I went inside and grabbed the fire extinguisher from the foyer," Stacy said. "The smoke turned into a combustion of flames under the hood."

By that time, Captain Rhyner Arthur and the Stillwater Fire Department arrived on scene.

Stacy said firefighters were able to lift the hood up to put out the fire.

"At this time, we think it could be an electrical short beneath the dash," Arthur said.

Arthur said he believes an air bag deployed due to electrical failure.

There were damages sustained to the interior and contents of the glove box. No one was injured.
