GLENCOE — Every New Year’s Day since 1902 — with one exception — the Glencoe United Methodist Church has hosted its New Year’s Day Dinner.

The dinner was first held as a fund-raiser for the new church, and has been held every year since that time except one year during World War I when public gatherings were banned because of an influenza epidemic.

The buffet-style meal will be the same as in recent years, offering baked turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, noodles, chicken pot-pie, green beans, cole slaw, the traditional black-eyed peas, desserts and drinks.

The church will be accepting donations of $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 years of age and younger. Carryouts will be available.

Serving will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday.
