Stillwater resident Alan Bonner will serve as a guest conductor when the U.S. Air Force Band of the West and the Air National Guard Band of the Gulf Coast perform here Saturday.

The bands will perform Saturday at 7 p.m. in Stillwater High School Performing Arts Center. The concert is free, although tickets are required to guarantee a seat. They are available at Consumer’s, Stillwater Chamber of Commerce and Stillwater National Bank.

Bonner, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, served as commander and conductor of the Air Force Band of the West from 1981 to 1983 before moving to the Pentagon, where he eventually served as commander and conductor of the U.S. Air Force Band in Washington, D.C.

He said he doesn’t know yet what he will be conducting, but “it will be well done, I have no doubt. They are excellent, excellent groups.”

Bonner is now national executive director for Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma National Band Honor Fraternity and Sorority, which has its headquarters in Stillwater. For more about him, read Friday’s NewsPress.
