Because of a decision at the Oklahoma Tax Commission, hard copies of the Oklahoma State Income tax forms will no longer be provided to public libraries, including the Stillwater Public Library.

The Tax Commission will continue mailing tax forms to residents. However, if a form is not received in the mail, the tax commission requests that taxpayers print their own tax forms from the OTC Web site, http://www.tax.ok.gov/itformcrt1.html.

The tax commission also will send forms via mail by request. Contact taxpayer assistance at 1-800-522-8165 or otcmaster@tax.ok.gov to request forms by mail. When calling the toll free request number, choose option 1 for “English,” then option 4 to order forms. The tax commission will begin taking requests the last week in December.

Taxpayers who do not have Internet access or who prefer not to order forms are still welcome to come to the Stillwater Public Library to use the Internet to print forms and instructions. Copies from the library are 10 cents per page. The 511 resident packet for 2006, which included forms, instructions and tables, was approximately 40 pages or $4 per packet.

The Stillwater Public Library also will have a laminated copy of state tax forms, instructions and tables which can be photocopied for 10 cents per page.

This change does not affect federal forms. The Stillwater Public Library will continue to stock free federal forms, instructions and publications, which will be available beginning Jan. 2, 2008, at the back east wall behind the Internet terminals.

The Stillwater Public Library is located at 1107 S. Duck Street (the corner of Duck and 12th Avenue). For more information, contact the Stillwater Public Library by phone at 372-3633, by e-mail at askalibrarian@stillwater.org or visit the web site at library.stillwater.org.
