Stillwater Board of Education will vote Tuesday to approve a service fee to planners of two elementary school construction projects.
Oklahoma State University Long-Range Facility Planning is overseeing the construction of new schools for Will Rogers Elementary School and Highland Park Elementary School.
In November, the Board approved a guaranteed maximum price of $36 million for the construction of the two schools. Assistant Superintendent Jim Ryan said the service fee is less than one percent of the total price tag of construction.
Highland Park is expected to be completed by the start of the 2013-14 school year. Construction at Will Rogers will not be completed until a few weeks after the start of school. Ryan said Long-Range Planning will be under contract for the duration of the construction project, “until we get a certificate of occupancy.”
Representatives of Selser-Schafer Architects and Monty Karns of Long-Range Planning will give an update on the building progress of the two schools.
Five roofing contracts in the amount of $1.03 million were recently awarded for work at Stillwater High School, Stillwater Middle School and Stillwater Junior High. Ryan said the work is expected to be completed in early April “if the weather cooperates.”
Ryan said roof work will begin at Stillwater High School on Monday.
