Prairie Arts Center

The Prairie Arts Center is hosting a special event that will allow children and the special man in their lives to personalize a hammer to celebrate Father’s Day.

Stillwater’s Prairie Arts Center, 1001 S. Duck Street, is holding a special event this week for Father’s Day. Throughout this week, children and their fathers, grandfathers or whoever their special man might be, will have the opportunity to create personalized hammers together. For a fee of $10 per hammer, participants have the opportunity to wood burn a special message into the handles of their hammers.

All ages are encouraged to come, but participants must be at least 13 years of age to use the wood burner.

Kids who are too young to use the wood burner can use finger paints. The process shouldn’t take more than an hour, but be sure to call ahead and reserve your hammers because supplies are limited.

The workshops run Tuesday–Thursday from 4-6 p.m. and a final session will be held 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday. Call 405-744-1535 to make a reservation.

Prairie Arts Center has begun its second annual Pop Up Art Series for this summer. The events will be held every third Saturday until August. Each Pop Up shop features 15 different artists displaying a variety of wares.

The remaining dates for this summer are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday and on July 20 and Aug. 17. The Stillwater Farmers Market and Prairie Arts Center’s Make-&-Take events will also be held on those dates.  Interested in participating as an artist?
