KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Oklahoma won 4-of-5 matches during the first day of freestyle at the Cadet Dual National Championships on Sunday.

Iowa, who went 5-0 to lead Pool B competition, gave Oklahoma its only loss, a 43-20 score in Sunday night’s final round of wrestling. Coached by Perry’s Scott Chenoweth, Oklahoma faced Nebraska this morning before bracket competition this afternoon.

Stillwater High’s Chris Perry, a state champion at 160 pounds in February, picked up four wins in five bouts. His only loss came to Iowa’s Dylan Wrage at 189 pounds. Perry had a pair of pins and two technical falls as Oklahoma beat Kansas, California, Ohio and Wyoming.

Perry’s Ladd Rupp went 4-1 at 105 pounds, while teammate Stephen Swan, who also competed in Greco-Roman last week, went 3-1 at 125 pounds.

The Juniors compete at Oklahoma City University starting Tuesday with Greco-Roman.
