Oklahoma State’s softball team swept three games at the OSU Fall Invitational last Saturday at Cowgirl Stadium. The Cowgirls were convincing in all three victories, outscoring their opponents by a combined 30-3.

O-State opened up the day with an 8-0 run-rule victory over Oklahoma Christian. Offensively, the Cowgirls were led by seniors Lauren Kitchens and Shianne Cruce. The duo combined to go 6-for-6, driving in two runs each, highlighted by Cruce’s inside-the-park home run in the third inning.

Senior Jessica Hoppock struck out nine batters in five innings and allowed just one hit.

In the second contest, the Cowgirls recorded their second consecutive run-rule shutout — handing Seminole State a 9-0 loss. Junior Kim Kaye was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored.

O-State rounded out the all-day event with a 13-3 blowout victory against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

The Cowgirls were hot early — scoring six runs in the first inning. The first six Cowgirl batters recorded hits and scored, capped off by junior college transfer Jenna Harmison’s three-run homer.

Senior Chelsey Barclay recorded the victory for the Cowgirls, striking out four Drovers in four innings in the circle.

OSU will return to action Wednesday as it welcomes Rogers State for a doubleheader set to begin at 5 p.m.
