Sprouts Farmers Market released a list Tuesday of 12 stores it will open in July, August and September 2016. Stillwater is on that list.
Company officials had previously confirmed it held a lease on the former Consumers IGA at Sixth Avenue and Washington Street but couldn't provide a projected opening date.
Earlier this year he company announced it would be opening four stores in the Oklahoma City metro area and four stores in the Tulsa metro area.
The first, in Northwest Oklahoma City is scheduled to open May 25.
According to the most recent release the company will open a total of 36 new locations this year. In 2014 it announced it would be opening 1,200 stores in 10 years.
Each store creates about 100 jobs.
The grocery stores sell fresh produce, bulk foods, dairy, meat and seafood as well as vitamins and personal care items. They feature bakeries, delis and meat counters and some have olive bars, smoothie bars and fresh sushi.
The Sprouts Food Rescue Program donates unsold and edible groceries that aren't considered marketable and would otherwise go to waste to local food banks.
The company currently operates 220 stores in 13 states and in 2014 announced it would open 1,200 stores over the next decade.
