A recent NewsPress editorial on voting makes the case for higher voter turnout and concludes with the question, “What will your excuse be for not voting on election day?”
Maybe people who aren’t informed or don’t care won’t vote. Maybe that’s not a bad thing. Is a vote cast in ignorance any better than not casting a vote?
Maybe people can’t find a candidate they really want to vote for.
Maybe people are dissatisfied with Oklahoma’s exclusionary ballot access laws that make third-party candidacies and other choices extremely difficult.
And maybe people are tired of newspaper editorials telling them what to do and what not to do.
