Having seen the ROTC pictures in the Sept. 19 NewsPress, I was reminded of my enrollment at the OAMC.

After my discharge from the service in 1946, I decided to attend college on the G.I. Bill. In order to satisfy my military obligations, I went to ROTC headquarters, then located at the Old Gymnasium.

Armed with my discharge from the service, I visited with the staff sergeant and was told I need not attend ROTC. As I was leaving, I noticed the nameplate on his desk — Kerbow. I mentioned that I had served with a Kerbow in the Asiatic-Pacific, but he was from Texas.

Grinning, he replied, “that’s my brother!” Small world - sort of?
