Would you like to know more about school funding?
Do you have questions about state aid for common education?
Would you like an explanation about budget tightening measures in Stillwater and in school districts across the state?
Stillwater Superintendent Ann Caine will provide the answers during a public forum Tuesday in Stillwater.
The Stillwater League of Women Voters is hosting a forum from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Stillwater Community Center auditorium.
Stillwater Public Schools announced several weeks ago that budget cuts of $1.5 million were necessary to keep the district in the black. But several residents have questioned the district’s budget priorities after a special meeting at the Stillwater Performing Arts Center, where district officials outlined the budget cuts and explained why they were necessary.
League of Women Voters officials said they were approached by people in the community to hold a forum about school cuts. Caine and other district officials have expressed a desire to clarify the budget cutting measures. So Tuesday’s event could go a long way in a better understanding of the issues.
Caine and other district officials will respond to questions from the public about the budget reductions. Questions submitted by the audience will be read by moderators. For those unable to attend the forum, questions can be sent before the event to email@example.com. Each of the questions asked during the forum will be anonymous.
The forum will be a great opportunity for Stillwater residents who have concerns about school financing to ask direct questions to the leaders of the school district.
