RIPLEY — Play kicked off in the annual fall baseball Ripley Maverick Mini-Mart Classic on Thursday with four run-rule games.

Host Ripley, ranked ninth in Class A, took a 6-0 lead after one inning, highlighted by Ethan Robinson’s grand slam home run. Robinson finished 2-for-3 with five RBIs and Brett Tilley was 2-for-2, scoring three runs. Reed Myers added a double for Ripley (20-7) who faces Class B No. 7 Cimarron.

CHS beat Oilton, 11-2, on Thursday.

Class B No. 13 Carney beat Drummond, 9-1, and No. 8 Glencoe whipped Olive, 12-1, in the other first round matchups.
