Stillwater scored four runs in the first inning and made it hold up for a 5-4 win over Choctaw in pool play at the Yukon Tournament on Saturday.

Also in pool play, SHS lost 2-1 to Sand Springs.

In bracket play, the Lady Pioneers beat Bixby 3-2. All games went six innings due to time limits.

Against Choctaw, Jodi Vinyard worked all six innings to get the win. Vinyard walked just two and gave up four hits.

Shelbi Redfearn and Jennifer Scarbrough had two hits for the Lady Pioneers and each had a double, as did Tessa Bond.

Sand Springs and Stillwater hooked up in a pitcher’s dual in the second game.

Both team had six hits but Sand Springs scored two runs in the third and never trailed.

Chandler Nett took the tough loss on the mound for SHS, striking out five.

Rachel Harper and Scarbrough had two hits for Stillwater.

In the bracket round, Stillwater edged Bixby as Chandler Nett limited Bixby to five hits while striking out seven.

Redfearn had three hits, including a home run and Scarbrough drove in a run.

“Chandler did a great for us and so did Jodi Vinyard in the first game,” Stillwater coach Angela Knott said. “Jodi came in and gave her (Nett) some relief. We had some really good pitching and defense this weekend. It was a strong tournament for us.”

Stillwater (12-19) has added a game to its schedule on Monday, hosting Crescent.
