The season came to an end at home for the fourth-ranked Perkins-Tryon baseball team on Friday. The Demons, needing a win to force an ‘if necessary’ game, lost to 14th-ranked Heritage Hall 6-5 in Perkins.

The Demons were trailing 5-0 through four innings

Two errors in top of the fifth allowed two runners on for P-T for the first time in the contest. P-T’s Eric Marone scored one of the runners on a sacrifice fly to score the Demons’ first run.

P-T loaded the bases with two outs in the inning when Zane Dugan walked home a run to make it 5-2. The rally ended there, however, as Chance Bunch grounded out to first for the final out.

Heritage Hall got a run back with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fifth.

P-T got a runner on base in the top of the seventh on an error with one out in the inning to begin a big rally back. After Cy Boles struck out, Dugan singled to get two runners on for his third hit of the game.

Then Bunch, who was 0-for-3 in the game, came to the plate and hit a three-run home to make it 6-5 with P-T still playing with just one out in the game.

The next two batters were hit by a pitch, which led Heritage Hall to a pitching change. The change brought an end to the rally attempt, as the batter was struck out and P-T ended its season having left nine base runners on in the loss.
