The Cowboys had their shot at Bedlam. Now it is the Cowgirls turn.
The Oklahoma State women’s basketball team hosts the Oklahoma Sooners at noon Saturday inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowgirls (12-4, 2-3) are looking to snap a two-game losing streak while the Sooners (12-3, 3-1) are off to a good start in Big 12 play.
Here are four areas to look for in Saturday’s Bedlam contest.
Brittney Martin continues to show why she is one of the best players in the country. Her 21.1 points per game average is 16th in the country. She is ranks 12th nationally with 3.1 steals per game.
Martin, a senior and All-America candidate, leads the Big 12 in scoring, rebounding and steals. If she records one more double-double, Martin will become the 11th Cowgirl to do so at least 10 times in a single season.
The Cowgirls are 1-2 against ranked opponents this season. Their lone win was a 52-45 affair against then-No. 4 Baylor at home. The two losses were to No. 4 Texas 78-48 and at then-No. 20 South Florida.
OSU has won three of the past four Bedlam conferences in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Last year’s home loss to OU snapped a three-game win streak.
OSU coach Jim Littell has always preached defense, and his team has held five of its last six opponents to under 50 points.
